Galaxy Claim Sundowns’ Slayer From The Carling Knockout Final

Sportswire has learnt that TS Galaxy has completed the signing of Tshepo Kakora from Magesi as the PSL January transfer window officially swings open.
Kakora rose to prominence last season after scoring against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup final.
The 27-year-old spent one and a half seasons with Magesi, having joined the club from NB La Masia at the start of last season after they were promoted from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Kakora is a product of Orlando Pirates, having progressed through the club’s structures and featured in the DStv Diski Challenge.
He departs Magesi, who currently sit second from bottom on the league table, after making 29 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals during his time at the club.
One of those goals came in the top flight against Sundowns at a crucial moment in the Carling Knockout Cup final at Toyota Stadium.
With Magesi trailing, Kakora met Edmore Chirambadare’s cross at the back post to score the equaliser—his first goal in the PSL top flight.
Coached by Clinton Larsen at the time, Magesi saw Kakora’s goal cancel out Iqraam Rayners’ opener for Sundowns.
Magesi went on to make history when Delano Abrahams scored the winning goal to stun Sundowns in the final, who were then coached by Manqoba Mngqithi.
Kakora now joins a TS Galaxy side currently sitting eighth on the Betway Premiership standings with 21 points from 14 matches.
Galaxy will resume their league campaign on 21 January when they host Marumo Gallants at Mbombela Stadium—a familiar opponent for Kakora, as his other goal for Magesi last season also came against Gallants in league action.
