Chippa Part Ways With Nwabali

Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has left Chippa United with immediate effect, the club has confirmed.

The club revealed that the goalkeeper requested the termination of his contract, a move they agreed to.

The Super Eagles international, who helped Nigeria secure the bronze medal at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, has not featured for Chippa since the tournament concluded.

The 29-year-old missed the club’s last five matches, including their two most recent victories.

Nwabali also played a key role in Nigeria’s run to the final of the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast, where the Super Eagles were beaten by the host nation, the Elephants.

Previously linked with moves to Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, Nwabali joined Chippa United from Lobi Stars in October 2022.

He departs the Chilli Boys having made 76 appearances across all competitions, keeping 25 clean sheets and conceding 85 goals.

There had already been uncertainty over his future at the club, with his contract due to expire in June.

It remains to be seen where Nwabali will continue his football career.
