All Blacks Confirm Boks Assistant To Rejoin New Zealand In 2028

The All Blacks stunned South African rugby on Sunday by confirming that current Springbok attack coach Tony Brown will rejoin his home country in 2028.

Brown will serve out his remaining commitments with South Africa before officially shifting back to New Zealand.

The Kiwi mastermind originally joined the Springbok technical team following SA’s historic 2023 Rugby World Cup triumph, stepping into the void left by outgoing head coach Jacques Nienaber, who departed for Irish giants Leinster.

New Zealand heavily courted Brown following Scott Robertson’s managerial departure following the poor performance last season, but the South Africa Rugby Union said he was going nowhere.

Since the former Sharks flyhalf arrived to steer the Boks’ backline, South Africa has dominated the Southern Hemisphere, clinching consecutive Rugby Championship titles.

However, this dramatic announcement will inevitably ignite fierce debate regarding immediate camp loyalty. The bombshell comes just as the Springboks prepare to face New Zealand in an unprecedented four-match “Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry” series this season.

While South Africa will host three of those highly anticipated fixtures, the remaining blockbuster clash will head to the United States—a strategic move to build momentum ahead of America hosting the 2031 Rugby World Cup.
