Frosler Reflects On Magesi Impact And Family Life

Kaizer Chiefs fullback Reeve Frosler has opened up about the personal joys that sustained him during his recent injury layoff, following a sensational two-assist comeback against Magesi.

Frosler, one of the club’s longest-serving players, marked his return in midweek by providing two assists after coming on as a substitute in Chiefs’ 4–1 victory over Magesi in Polokwane on Wednesday evening.

The 28-year-old endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines but found a silver lining during his recovery.

“Being out injured is no fun for any player, and I’m no different,” he told the club’s website.

“It was difficult in that sense, but it turned out to be good timing because my wife and I were expecting our second child. Being at home allowed me to support her, which was special. That said, it was a great feeling to be back on the field.”

Frosler showcased his versatility by setting up Chiefs’ third and fourth goals. Shortly after coming on in the 61st minute, he delivered a clever cut-back from the byline for Mduduzi Shabalala to score.

He then produced a superb cross from out wide for Khanyisa Mayo to head home at the far post with seven minutes remaining.

“It’s always nice to contribute. The team’s strong first-half performance made it easier for me to come on. We were already two goals up and playing on the front foot,” he said.

The other goals for Chiefs were scored by Flavio da Silva and Wandile Duba in the first half, before Frosler’s impactful cameo.

However, Chiefs were unable to build on that momentum, as they were held to a draw by Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium this past weekend.

Chiefs, currently third in the Betway Premiership standings, are now preparing for a crucial clash against Orlando Pirates in the 185th Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on Sunday.

Amakhosi suffered a 3–0 defeat in the reverse fixture in February — the first time in 25 years they had lost by that margin to Pirates in a league encounter.
