León Issues Warning To Rivals After Champions League Glory

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Bryan León has sent a warning to his rivals, declaring his intention to score even more goals next season and help the club win additional trophies.
The Colombian forward has quickly demonstrated his goalscoring prowess since joining Sundowns midway through the season. Despite arriving halfway through the campaign, León has already registered 15 goals and two assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
The Brazilian’s arrival intensified competition in Sundowns’ attacking department, with established forwards such as Peter Shalulile, Iqraam Rayners and Lebo Mothiba finding opportunities harder to come by.
León also played a key role in helping Sundowns finally secure the CAF Champions League title after a decade-long wait. The triumph marked his first major African trophy since joining the club. He also came close to finishing as the tournament’s top scorer, ending the competition with five goals, just two behind the leading marksman.
Reflecting on the achievement, León expressed his delight at winning the Champions League, describing the experience as surreal.
“Winning the CAF Champions League feels surreal. To help bring the trophy back after 10 years … that was our biggest dream. Everyone is happy. Everyone worked for this. I am excited to go home and see my family and friends in Colombia. I will rest, recover, and prepare for next season,” said from Sundowns magazine.
The 25-year-old has now set his sights on an even more prolific campaign.
“Next season, I want to score more goals than I did this season. If I scored 15 in half a season, I know I can do much better over a full campaign. And I want to help the team win more trophies. It is going to be an exciting season for us,” he said.
