Three Buccaneers Locked In Ultimate Battle For PSL Player’s Player Of The Season

Orlando Pirates have dominated the nominations for the Player’s Player of the Season award, with Oswin Appollis, Relebohile Mofokeng and Kamogelo Sebelebele all shortlisted for the prestigious honour.

The trio played a pivotal role in helping the Buccaneers enjoy a memorable campaign, ending their 14-year wait for the Betway Premiership title. Pirates also completed a remarkable domestic treble by winning the MTN8, Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup.

Mofokeng received his fourth nomination of the awards season, having also been shortlisted for the Midfielder of the Season, PSL Footballer of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards.

The exciting youngster finished the league campaign with a competition-high six Man of the Match awards. He also contributed 10 goals and eight assists in 27 Betway Premiership appearances.

Appollis earned his second nomination after also being named among the finalists for the Midfielder of the Season award. In his debut season for Pirates, the midfielder impressed with nine goals and six assists in 30 league appearances, quickly establishing himself as one of the club’s standout performers.

Sebelebele also enjoyed an outstanding first season at Pirates after joining the club from TS Galaxy at the start of the campaign.

The wing-back scored four goals and provided two assists in 24 league appearances. He also played a key role in Pirates’ defensive solidity, with the team conceding just 11 goals throughout the league season.

Having all three nominees come from Pirates underlines the club’s dominance during a historic campaign, with Appollis, Mofokeng and Sebelebele recognised by their fellow players for their outstanding performances.
