Arthur Zwane Secures Future Star
Having already signed seven players ahead of next season, AmaZulu have now extended the contract of defensive midfielder Siyanda Hlangabeza.
The 23-year-old played a key role in Usuthu’s fourth-place finish last season, making 24 appearances across all competitions in a deep-lying midfield role.
In the matches Hlangabeza featured, AmaZulu recorded 11 victories, a return that contributed significantly to the club securing a top-four finish under coach Arthur Zwane.
It capped an impressive campaign for Hlangabeza, who spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Durban City, where he helped the club secure promotion to the Premiership.
The central midfielder, regarded as one of AmaZulu’s brightest young prospects, has made 29 appearances in all competitions since being promoted to the first team ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Hlangabeza is expected to battle for a starting place once again next season alongside Sphamandla Zikhali, Luyolo Slatsha, Langelihle Mhlongo and new signing Gape Moralo.
Meanwhile, Usuthu, who have signed Omega Mdaka, Khomotjo Lekoloane, Mncedi Vandala, Keenan Phillips, Faveur Kouassi and Moses Shumah ahead of the new campaign, will take part in the KZN Premier’s Cup later this month, a pre-season tournament to be held in Durban.
The draw for the competition is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
