Matuludi Joins Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns has confirmed the signing of highly rated right-back Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City.
Matuludi had long been linked with a move to the Chloorkop side, who recently suffered a major setback after Bafana Bafana star Khuliso Mudau was ruled out with a long-term injury. With Mudau sidelined, Sundowns moved swiftly to secure one of the country’s brightest defensive talents.
“Mamelodi Sundowns are excited to welcome Thabang Matuludi to the Masandawana family! Yellow Nation, let’s welcome him in the comments,” the club announced in an official statement.
Matuludi becomes the latest high-profile addition to Miguel Cardoso’s squad, following the arrival of Deano van Rooyen, who signed over the weekend after parting ways with Orlando Pirates. Sundowns also recently confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Thabo Cele following his departure from Kaizer Chiefs.
The 27-year-old joins an impressive list of new arrivals at Chloorkop this transfer window, alongside Cele, Van Rooyen, Antonio Van Wyk, Cassius Mailula, and Siyanda Ndlovu, while Tsiki Ntsabeleng completed a permanent transfer from MLS outfit FC Dallas.
During his spell at Polokwane City, Matuludi made 72 appearances in all competitions, contributing six goals and two assists. His consistent domestic performances earned him a spot in Hugo Broos’ historic Bafana Bafana squad, which reached the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
