MTN8 Final Sold Out: PSL Confirms All Moses Mabhida Tickets Snapped Up in Hours
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that all tickets for the MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at Moses Mabhida Stadium are officially sold out.
Despite widespread early morning outages on the Opentickets purchasing platform, online queues cleared rapidly once server stability was restored, with eager supporters purchasing the full stadium allocation within hours.
The rapid sellout reflects the massive national appeal of South Africa’s two dominant clubs, who prepare to clash in Durban on Saturday, 10 October.
Orlando Pirates enter the showpiece targeting a historic fifth consecutive MTN8 crown. Under head coach Abdelsam Ouaddou, the Soweto giants have transformed the top-eight tournament into a personal domain, consistently delivering clutch performances in knockout football.
Mamelodi Sundowns, however, are determined to break Pirates’ monopoly. Despite dominating the league championship over the past decade, the Chloorkop side has lifted the MTN8 trophy just once—during the 2021/22 season—since MTN assumed headline sponsorship in 2008.
The matchup renews a fierce cup rivalry between the two sides at Moses Mabhida Stadium. In the 2023 final at the same venue, Pirates triumphed in a dramatic penalty shootout after 120 scoreless minutes.
With all tickets accounted for, law enforcement and the PSL have advised ticketless supporters that no matchday sales will take place at the venue gates, urging fans without valid tickets to avoid the stadium precinct.
