The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (SportArtsKZN) enjoyed a remarkable campaign at the National Public Servants Sports and Cultural Events Tournament (NPSSCE), securing multiple podium finishes in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, on Saturday.

In an impressive display of sporting excellence, the provincial department claimed gold medals in men’s volleyball, ladies’ soccer and ladies’ chess, while also securing bronze in women’s volleyball and ladies’ singles tennis.

The results underline KwaZulu-Natal’s growing strength in public service sport and highlight the talent, dedication and competitive spirit of its employees.

The men’s volleyball team delivered a standout performance to secure gold, while the women’s team also made its mark by finishing third in a competitive field. Their achievements demonstrated the department’s depth of talent and its ability to compete across different sporting codes.

On the football field, the ladies’ soccer team rose to the occasion, claiming gold and adding another major achievement to KwaZulu-Natal’s successful campaign.

The department also celebrated success in chess, with the ladies’ team winning gold after an impressive showing against their opponents. Meanwhile, the men’s chess team finished fourth, narrowly missing out on a podium place.

In tennis, the department added another medal to its tally, with the ladies’ singles player earning bronze to round off an encouraging performance across the tournament.

The collection of medals reflects the commitment and determination of the provincial contingent, which competed in several disciplines while representing KwaZulu-Natal with pride.

The NPSSCE brings together public servants from different provinces to compete in sporting and cultural activities, promoting wellness, teamwork, camaraderie and healthy competition among government employees.

For SportArtsKZN, the strong showing in Mbombela marks a significant achievement and reinforces the department’s commitment to encouraging participation in sport and promoting an active lifestyle among public servants.

With gold medals in three events and additional podium finishes, KwaZulu-Natal has made a powerful statement at this year’s tournament, setting a high standard for future competitions and strengthening its reputation as a force in public service sport.
