AmaZulu Announce Mokwena’s Analyst And New Players

AmaZulu have announced the new technical team that will work alongside head coach Arthur Zwane next season, including Sibusiso Makitla, formerly Rulani Mokwena’s right-hand man.

Makitla was previously with Wydad Casablanca, where he was part of Mokwena’s technical team last season.

As previously revealed by Sportswire, Usuthu officially confirmed Posnet Omony as the goalkeeper coach of the technical team.

Simo Dladla, who led Durban City last season, was also unveiled on Tuesday as assistant coach.

“These are people we have recruited to work with Zwane,” said Usuthu president Sandile Zungu.

Zungu, whose club released 19 players—either returning from loan spells or having their contracts unrenewed—also thanked those departing players.

Simultaneously, AmaZulu unveiled new players: Keagan Allan, Ryan Moon, Darren Johnson, and Thando Ngwenya. Promoted from within are Asanda Mzobe, Onke Ncama, Minenhle Ngcobo, and Thandanani “Obama” Mhlongo.

Thato Mdluli, Rocco Roger, and Enrick Erasmus have been invited to train with the first team. Siphamandla Zikhali, Siyanda Hlangabeza, and Olwethu Mzimela have returned from loan spells.

“On the players that we released, I want to say thank you to them. We are eternally grateful for their contribution,” Zungu stated. “Unfortunately, it is the nature of the game that the dancers have to bow off the dance floor.”

Regarding the new players, Zungu added, “We have very high hopes in these new guys. We absolutely have no doubt you will rise to the challenge, listen to the coaches’ instructions, please compete, and we will support you.”

Usuthu also announced the winner of their third kit design competition, Odirile-Thato Twala, who walked away with R10,000. Twala will also receive an internship with Primo Sports, Usuthu’s new kit sponsor, to work with the Durban brand.

Usuthu’s new jerseys, displayed during the launch on Tuesday, will cost R799.
