AmaZulu Eye Dladla For Assistant Coach Role

Sportswire has learned that AmaZulu is one of many who are poised to pounce on former Durban City coach Simo Dladla as the second assistant coach under head coach Arthur Zwane.

Usuthu had their sights on Dladla, who mutually parted ways with City on Wednesday after failing to agree on a new contract for next season. According to Sportswire sources, Dladla’s demands had become too high for City management, leading to the split.

He had also been linked with an unknown Motsepe Foundation Championship side in Limpopo, with a deal almost finalized, but he opted for AmaZulu once their interest emerged.

Dladla, a former Real Kings coach, led City (rebranded from Maritzburg United at the start of last season) to the Betway Premiership by winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship trophy.

After the season concluded, his future was uncertain, and talks with City dragged on for ten days with back-and-forth negotiations.

At AmaZulu, if appointed, Dladla will become the second assistant coach. Zwane has been working without one since he was elevated to the head coach role in February, following the departure of Vusi Vilakazi.

When Zwane was appointed as head coach, he was assisted by Siboniso Vilakazi, his first assistant, and they finished in sixth place last term, marking the club’s first top-eight finish in two years.

Going into next season, the club management believes Zwane needs additional support in the technical team as he leads Usuthu, hoping to build on their performance from last season.
