Appollis Hails Bafana’s World Cup Qualification

Star of the show, Oswin Appollis, expressed his joy and gratitude following Bafana Bafana’s 3-0 victory over Rwanda on Tuesday evening at Mbombela Stadium, which secured their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Appollis was instrumental in the win, assisting two goals and scoring one, earning him the man of the match award.
The victory marked a remarkable turnaround for Bafana, who came into the match under pressure after a three-point deduction and a disappointing 0-0 draw against Zimbabwe on Friday.
Despite the odds, the 1996 African champions showed determination and resilience, with Appollis praising the group’s efforts.
“But it’s possible, we have to give things to the group, you know, for fighting to drive to get the three points, you know?” Appollis said.
The 24-year-old also expressed his personal satisfaction, saying, “And for me as a player, I just want to improve, you know, and hopefully, I will be here in… Actually, I will be on this international team, you know, and we’ll continue working here. But with the many things you do, the team will fight in today, we can have the world.”
The winger’s comments reflected the team’s confidence and determination to make a mark in the World Cup.
Appollis also took a moment to thank the South African fans for their support, saying, “Thank you to the South Africans for supporting us, you know. World Cup, here we’re coming, I thank you so much.”
Bafana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, is a significant achievement for the team.
The last time Bafana Bafana qualified for the World Cup as non-hosts was in 2002, and they will be looking to make a lasting impression on the global stage.
