Banyana To Learn Who They Will Be Paired In The WAFCON Draw
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the draw for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place on Friday, 22 November.
Originally scheduled for this year, the tournament was postponed due to a clash with the Olympic Games that was held in France. The 13th edition of the tournament will now be held in Morocco from 5-26 July 2025.
South Africa, the defending champions, will be looking to retain their title. The draw ceremony will be broadcast live on various platforms, including CAF TV.
“The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has confirmed official draw of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024 will be conducted on Friday, 22 November 2024 at Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Sale, Morocco,” said CAF in a statement on Sunday.
“The draw will start at 20h00 local time (19h00 GMT) will be broadcast live on major broadcast channels across Africa and internationally, as well as on CAF’s digital streaming platform, CAF TV.
“The draw will determine the fate of the 12 Africa’s top women’s National Teams.
“The 13th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 5 to 26 July 2025 in Morocco.
“South Africa are the current champions of the competition having won it on Moroccan soil in 2022.
“Details on the draw procedure and other useful information will follow in due course.”
Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis will welcome the clarity surrounding the tournament, as it allows her to plan a more structured preparation than before. Banyana recently organized friendly matches against Denmark and England to provide her team with valuable international experience, but they lost them all.
