Baroka And Richards Bay Share Points In Tense PSL Playoff Clash

Baroka FC and Richards Bay FC failed to separate in their crucial PSL promotion/relegation playoff match at Global Stadium on Saturday, settling for a goalless draw.

The encounter lived up to expectations, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances on a soft pitch that hampered attacking flow.

Richards Bay’s attacking duo of Sanele Barns and Somila Ntsundwana, who found the net against University of Pretoria earlier in the week, were effectively neutralized by the Baroka defense.

This match marked the debut of Morgan Mammila as Baroka’s new head coach, following the suspension of Dan Malesela after a loss to AmaTuks in the opening playoff fixture.

The soft playing surface proved disruptive, with players losing their footing at times during attacking forays. The draw likely favors AmaTuks, who remain in second place on the mini-league table with three points. Richards Bay maintains their top spot with four points from two matches.

Baroka now prepares to host AmaTuks at their home ground in Polokwane on Wednesday. Next Saturday, Richards Bay travels to face AmaTuks at TUKS Stadium before wrapping up the playoffs by hosting Baroka on 19 June. This encounter will surely determine the team that earns promotion to the DStv Premiership for the upcoming season.
