Baroka Appoint New Coaches

Baroka has announced the appointment of Tlisane Motaung as the club’s new head coach, with Matsemela Thoka returning to serve as his assistant.
Sportswire revealed on Tuesday morning that Thoka was on his way back to Baroka following the sacking of Dan Malesela.
This publication can confirm that Malesela parted ways with the club after their weekend defeat to the University of Pretoria in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Interestingly, Motaung was previously in charge of AmaTuks, who went head-to-head with Baroka in the 2023/24 PSL promotion and relegation playoffs.
The new coaching duo inherit a side currently second from bottom in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, with just four points from seven matches, level on points with basement club Midlands Wanderers.
“Baroka Football Club is proud to announce the appointment of Matsemela Thoka as assistant coach and Tlisane Motaung as head coach of the club until the end of the season,” Baroka said in a statement on Tuesday.
The bottom two teams in the Motsepe Foundation Championship are automatically relegated at the end of the season, meaning Motaung and Thoka face the tough task of steering Baroka away from the drop and avoiding a return to amateur football next term.
