Ben Youssef Praises Sirino’s Form

Kaizer Chiefs’ assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef is thrilled with the form of his midfield maestro Gaston Sirino.

Sirino scored the winning goal for Amakhosi in the second half in their 1-0 victory over Richards Bay on Tuesday evening at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

The Uruguayan midfielder has been involved in all three games played this season, and his goal against Richards Bay was a testament to his hard work and dedication.

“I think Sirino, when we came back to the season, he came back with a good attitude and a good performance,” Ben Youssef said.

“We also discussed with him about his idea and what he thinks about this season. He is so excited for this season and wants to perform very well and also help the team.”

Ben Youssef also congratulated Sirino on his goal, saying, “I have to say to him, ‘Congratulations on scoring that goal and all the best for all training and also throughout the season’.”

The 34-year-old will be looking to continue his good form when Chiefs face his former team, Mamelodi Sundowns, at FNB Stadium next Wednesday.

Despite playing against Sundowns four times last season, Sirino failed to score against them, and he will be eager to make an impact in this match.

Meanwhile, the Tunisian mentor also addressed the introduction of youngster Mfundo Vilakazi in the team’s recent matches.

Vilakazi was introduced after 84 minutes in this game, and also in the first game against Stellenbosch, was introduced later in the game.

Against Polokwane, the young player didn’t play but was available in the matchday squad. Ben Youssef emphasized that the decision to introduce Vilakazi was not based on fan pressure, but rather on the team’s tactical plan.

“Even in the last game (against Polokwane City) the fans were asking about Vilakazi, but at the end of the day, we try to manage our players to mission, and we’re the coaches of Kaizer Chiefs, of which it’s us who decide, not fans,” Ben Youssef added.

The former AS FAR assistant coach explained that they were aiming to introduce the former Amakhosi DStv Diski Challenge midfielder in this game.

“The last 15 minutes (Mduduzi) Shabalala was tired, and it was ready to introduce Vilakazi for Shabalala, then Sirino went to playmaker,” he concluded.
