Ben Youssef Provides Update On Chislett And Shinga’s Progress

Kaizer Chiefs coach Khalil Ben Youssef has shed light on the ongoing absence of Ethan Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga from the team’s lineup, attributing it to the duo’s current state of readiness.
Despite joining Chiefs during the off-season, the duo has not featured in any matchday squads, and their absence has raised questions about their readiness for the team.
According to Ben Youssef, both Chislett and Shinga have been training with the team and have been making good progress.
“With Shinga and Ethan, both of them are with us, they make all the trainings, and we as coaches know when we can take them to the team,” Ben Youssef said after their 1-1 draw against Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
“They keep working, they make very good performances in the training. But I think we’re waiting for the right moment to have them in the team.”
The Durban-born duo joined Amakhosi from Europe, with Chislett coming from England and Shinga from Portugal.
They travelled with the team during their preseason tour in July and played in several friendly games in the Netherlands. Shinga also started in the Toyota Cup match against Asante Kotoko in July, but Chislett didn’t feature.
Despite the season already starting and Amakhosi having played eight games in all competitions, the duo is yet to make their debut.
However, Ben Youssef’s comments suggest that they are close to breaking into the team.
With Amakhosi set to face Angolan giants Kabuscorp on Saturday in the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round second leg, Chislett and Shinga will be hoping to make it to the matchday squad and potentially even start the game.
But Chiefs are on the back foot as they lost1-0 in the first leg in Angola over the weekend.
