Broos Gives His Honest Assessment Of When Bafana Trio Will Play

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has given his take on when Thabo Moloisane, Vuyo Letlapa, and Ndamulelo Maphangule will play for the national team, saying they were shaking in the early stages of the camp.
The Bafana’s new trio received their first national team call-up as Bafana Bafana defeated Lesotho 2-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 match qualifying match at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday. Bafana next visits Benin at a neutral venue in Abidjan on Tuesday, hoping to cement their top spot in Group C.
While Moloisane was announced during the squad announcement, Maphangule and Letlapa joined the camp later when they replaced Aubrey Modiba and Patrick Maswanganyi respectively.
“You know for those guys there’s also a few days of adaptation, it’s another level and you can see at the beginning they were a little bit shaking,” Broos said
“But as I said earlier on, when you arrive in a group like this it’s easier for those guys to adapt. After a few days it was like they’ve been with us, but there are some levels they still need to work hard on to achieve that level.
“But it was the right moment to bring in them because there were some players that were not here. They are already here for friendly games in June, they will play in June in the friendly games.
“They will play those friendly games, whatever the results; it will be for a very good occasion and be very happy to see which guys will be here for the future and which guy is not ready at all.”
Maphangule made his debut against Lesotho, coming in as a sub after 90 minutes. Moloisane and Letlapa are yet to make their debut even though Moloisane has represented the national team in the COSAFA Cup.
