Broos Reveals Passport Issue Forced Exclusion Of Ndamane

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that he initially included TS Galaxy defender Khulumane Ndamane in his squad, but was forced to exclude him due to the player not possessing a valid passport.
Broos disclosed the news on Thursday about Ndamane’s passport issues after announcing the final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin this month, which notably featured the return of Percy Tau.
Ndamane has been a standout performer in defense for Galaxy this season, forming a formidable partnership with Samukele Kabini. He has played in 18 of the team’s 22 league matches.
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi had expressed to this website a few weeks ago his hope that both Ndamane and Kabini would deservedly be included in the national team for these March qualifiers.
Galaxy is enjoying another strong season, currently sitting fifth in the Betway Premiership table after defeating SuperSport United on Tuesday, with Ndamane playing a crucial role in the victory’s defensive effort.
“You mentioned Ndamane from Galaxy; he was in the initial selection, but he doesn’t have a passport,” Broos stated.
“I heard their chairman Tim Sukazi say at the beginning of last week that I should select more players from Galaxy. I’d like to, but they don’t have passports.
“I’m very sorry about that.”
Ndamane is not the first PSL player to face passport issues when it comes to national team selection. Broos previously lamented Pule Mmodi’s lack of a passport when he wanted to select him during his time at Golden Arrows, prior to his move to Kaizer Chiefs.
“But this is not the first time,” Broos continued.
“I think we must find a solution and create a list of 40 players, then inform their clubs that those players need to obtain passports…
“Sadly, these players are losing out on caps and selection opportunities.”
The Bafana squad will host Lesotho at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 21 March, before travelling to Benin for a match held at a neutral venue in Ivory Coast four days later.
