Broos: Sundowns Players Are Not Leaving The Camp

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that he will field a strong team for Tuesday’s final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan, despite having already secured qualification for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Broos says he wants to finish at the top of Group K in the qualifiers after he was asked if he would make changes to the side.

Bafana Bafana will host South Sudan at the DHL Stadium on Tuesday (18:00), where a win will be enough to see them finish on top of the qualifiers in their group.

They went on top of Group K with 11 points after beating Uganda 2-0 in Kampala on Friday, with the East African side dropping to second in the group though they have also qualified.

“You know that this is a question I can’t answer first or all and I want to keep all my players motivated for Tuesday’s game,” said Broos.

“Secondly, I will not give information to my opponents. You will have to wait for Tuesday’s six o’clock.

“(Having said that), I don’t like taking these games as a friendly game. You know when you start changing everything, that means maybe the players will feel they will not be there. What I said at the beginning I mean it; we want to be the first in the group and we will try to put our best team on Tuesday on the pitch.”

Broos was specifically asked if he will release Mamelodi Sundowns early in this camp, as they have got a bigger fish to fry for this season including the FIFA Club World Cup at the end of the season and the Carling Knockout final against Magesi this coming weekend.

The former Cameroon coach said there is no chance of that to happen and all players will leave after the game on Tuesday.

“Sundowns players, until after the game on Tuesday, are players of Bafana Bafana,” Broos said in short.
