Bvuma Ends Chiefs Trophy Drought!

Kaizer Chiefs clinched the CUFA Cup after defeating Marumo Gallants 4-3 in a penalty shootout at Toyota Stadium on Sunday.
The match remained scoreless after regulation time, forcing a penalty shootout. Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma emerged as the hero, saving two penalties to secure the victory.
Yusuf Maart, Reeve Frosler, Nkosi Ngcobo, and Inacio Miguel converted their penalties for Chiefs.
The game was initially in doubt after Marumo Gallants announced a contractual dispute with the organizers on Saturday night. However, the issue was resolved, allowing the match to proceed as planned.
This was the second meeting between the two teams in recent weeks, following their clash in the opening game of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership at the same venue.
Chiefs dominated early in the match, with Wandile Duba having a clear chance but failing to convert. Gallants also had their opportunities, but Chiefs goalkeeper Bvuma made crucial saves to keep the score level.
Ranga Chivaviro missed a golden chance for Chiefs just before halftime, and Lebohang Mabotja’s cross went begging for Gallants after the break. Mfundo Shabalala also had a chance for Chiefs but missed the target.
The match remained goalless, forcing a penalty shootout. Bvuma’s heroics ensured Chiefs lifted the CUFA Cup.
