Cele: We Are In Crisis

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabo Cele has acknowledged that the club is currently in a crisis, but he believes they can still turn things around.

Amakhosi have suffered 10 losses this season under the leadership of Nasreddine Nabi, who was brought in to restore the club’s former glory.

They have an opportunity to revive their fortunes as the Soweto Giants face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, a chance to end their nearly 10-year trophy drought.

The 28-year-old, who joined the club during the January transfer window, has expressed his dissatisfaction with their current position.

“For sure, for Chiefs to be sitting where we are sitting is not nice,” admitted Cele.

“You can call it a crisis. I feel like even we, as a team, feel that we can do way better, and we are working on that. “Eventually, I think something is going to come if we just keep working on it and believing in what we are doing.

“As we were talking, I think there are many positives that we can see; it is just a matter of being consistent and getting results,” he added.

Chiefs are currently eighth in the standings with 29 points from 23 games and hope to climb the table in their remaining six matches, but they are struggling to maintain consistent wins.

Despite Amakhosi’s current struggles, Cele maintains that joining the club was the right decision.

“You know, I feel like even from the first time I stepped in the village, I felt like it was the right decision for me, and I still feel like that because as much as it’s challenging, but it’s something that you want, and it’s something that gives you fire,” he said.

“I feel like it was the right choice for me, and it still is.”

The Glamour Boys will attempt to secure three points after losing their last two matches when they host TS Galaxy, who are fourth in the league, at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (19:00).
