Chiefs Address Supporters’ March And Memorandum At Naturena
Kaizer Chiefs have released an official statement after a group of supporters marched to the club’s headquarters at Naturena Village on Saturday morning to protest against the team’s recent poor run of results.
The demonstration by Amakhosi supporters was conducted peacefully, with police officers present to escort the marchers as they made their way to the club’s headquarters.
During the gathering, the fans handed over a memorandum to the club’s management outlining several concerns and frustrations regarding the team’s performance.
Among the demands raised by the supporters was a call for the club not to have current co-coaches, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, in the team’s next match.
In response to the protest, Chiefs confirmed that they had received the memorandum and acknowledged the supporters’ actions in a statement.
“This morning, we received a memo from supporters who marched to the Village. We all cooperated,” a statement read from Chiefs.
“We thank our supporters for peacefully sharing their concerns. We’ll review and respond to suggestions soon.”
The Soweto giants are currently sixth on the standings with 30 points in the Betway Premiership following a difficult period in the league, having suffered three consecutive defeats against Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates, and Richards Bay.
Kaze and Ben Youssef took charge earlier this season after the club parted ways with Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi, who guided Amakhosi to their first major silverware in a decade after winning the Nedbank Cup.
Despite that success, the current coaching duo has been unable to replicate similar achievements, as Chiefs were eliminated from the Carling Knockout, the Nedbank Cup, and the CAF Confederation Cup.
With their inconsistent league form continuing, it appears increasingly likely that Amakhosi could finish the season without adding another trophy to their cabinet.
