Chiefs And Pirates Tormentor Nears Siwelele Move

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates tormentor Jaisen Clifford is on the verge of joining Siwelele following his departure from Marumo Gallants, Sportswire has learned.
The 30-year-old forward became a free agent at the end of June after Gallants opted against renewing his one-year contract. Clifford initially signed the short-term deal at the beginning of last season, marking his return to South African football after spending nearly a decade playing abroad.
During his tenure with Gallants, Clifford made 22 Betway Premiership appearances and netted four goals, playing a pivotal role in the club’s 2025/26 campaign.
Crucially, his knack for the big occasion caught the eye of suitors. Early last season, he stunned Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium, cutting inside to fire a brilliant effort into the far corner. He replicated his giant-killing antics just weeks later, scoring in a historic 2-1 victory over reigning champions Orlando Pirates in August—Gallants’ third game of the term.
Those high-profile strikes have paid off. Sportswire has been reliably informed that Siwelele are now in advanced talks to secure the experienced forward on a free transfer. With negotiations nearing the finish line, the move should be finalised shortly, making Clifford the club’s latest attacking addition.
While Siwelele are yet to officially unveil their new signings, the club is currently undergoing a massive squad rebuild. High-profile departures have dominated their window so far, with Gamphani Lungu, Bohlale Ngwato, and Neo Rapoo all completing moves to Orlando Pirates, while Gape Moralo heavily links with a move to AmaZulu after parting ways with the Bloemfontein outfit.
Should the deal cross the line as expected, Clifford’s veteran presence will heavily bolster Siwelele’s offensive arsenal ahead of the upcoming Betway Premiership season.
