Chiefs Come Back With A Draw Against Simba In CAF

In a tightly contested match, Kaizer Chiefs struggled to break down the Congolese side’s defense at Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Saturday afternoon as the game ended 0-0.

The draw means Chiefs still have a chance to advance to the group stages, with the second leg scheduled to take place at Dobsonville Stadium next Saturday.

Amakhosi’s coaching duo of Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze made two changes to the team that started against Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout round of 16.

Brandon Peterson and Siphesihle Ndlovu started in place of Mduduzi Shabalala, who was relegated to the bench, while Fiacre Ntwari didn’t make it to the matchday squad.

Despite the pressure following their loss to Stellenbosch before the FIFA International break, Chiefs showed resilience in a game that was largely dominated by defensive tactics.

The scoreless draw sets up an intriguing second leg, where a victory for Amakhosi will secure their spot in the group stages of the competition.

Before the crucial second leg, Chiefs will face Siwelele in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium during the week.

A strong performance in the league match could give Amakhosi the momentum they need to make a statement against Simba next Saturday.

With the second leg taking place in front of their home crowd, Chiefs will be determined to make the most of this opportunity and advance to the next stage of the competition.
