Chiefs Confirm Pre-Season Plans In Europe

Kaizer Chiefs has confirmed that their pre-season training will take place in the Netherlands, where coach Nasreddine Nabi will put his players through their paces as they prepare for the upcoming domestic and CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Chiefs, who finished outside the top eight for the second consecutive season, will be in the Netherlands from 3-19 July. This marks the second successive year that Chiefs will hold their pre-season in Europe, having conducted a similar camp in Turkey last year.

However, Chiefs have not yet confirmed the specific opposition they will play against during their time in the Netherlands, a detail that the club still needs to finalize.

It was confirmed that Chiefs and their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates, who have spent the past two pre-seasons in Spain under former coach Jose Riveiro, will have their European travel facilitated by their partner, SuperSportBet. Lucky fan winners will also be present to capture the moment.

Despite winning the Nedbank Cup last month by defeating Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium, ending a 10-year trophy drought, reports have surfaced questioning whether Nabi will indeed be in charge during this pre-season, with some speculating about his potential sacking.

However, Chiefs management has consistently maintained that Nabi is not going anywhere and remains under contract with the club.

Having won South Africa’s version of the FA Cup, Amakhosi have qualified for the Confederation Cup next season and will be joined by Stellenbosch, who reached the semi-finals in the past season. While Chiefs have announced their pre-season camp ahead of the new season, their Soweto rivals, Pirates, are yet to communicate their pre-season plans.
