Chiefs Make Muzeu Enquiry To Leopards

Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Black Leopards for the services of in-demand striker Bethuel Muzeu, who has attracted widespread interest, Sportswire has been informed.

The highly rated center-forward joined the Limpopo club on a three-year deal with an option to extend from Tura Magic FC in his native country in 2022. Since then, Muzeu has made a lasting impression in the local football landscape.

Muzeu dazzled in the South African second tier, finishing as the top goal scorer with 17 goals to his name in the 2023/24 season. Furthermore, the Namibian international continued to rise his stocks with 13 goals in the previous campaign.

While he didn’t catch the eye in the recently concluded COSAFA Cup in Bloemfontein, the 24-year-old goal poacher netted three goals in the regional tournament last year. Moreover, Muzeu impressed for Namibia in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Now, following what has been another good season for the Lidoda Duvha talisman, Betway Premiership clubs, including Amakhosi, have been circling to acquire the striker’s signature ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The Soweto giants are understood to have enquired the services of Muzeu, who has been dubbed as the next Peter Shalulile, his compatriot, who is on the cusp of becoming the all-time leading top goal scorer in PSL history.

However, Chiefs’ interest in Muzeu was rebuffed as Leopards retain an option to extend the player’s stay, which has been exercised as the sought-after star returned to training on Monday morning, according to a well-placed source close to the matter.

Leopards are believed to have hiked the valuation of Muzeu in the wake of the Glamour Boys’ confirmed interest as a result of the extension clause, which is so far the stumbling block in any potential deal.

Chiefs are not keen to continue with negotiations under the current conditions, with the two clubs at loggerheads in their talks, as early signs suggest that the Naturena-based outfit is set to pull out of discussions for the deadly frontman.

Sources have indicated that personal terms are not expected to be a problem with Muzeu, interested in the move as he has previously stated his desire and dream to don the famous black and gold jersey of the Soweto giants.

While Amakhosi desperately need more firepower upfront, Muzeu also has interest from a host of South African top-flight clubs, teams from North Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, and the gulf region, where an unnamed UAE Pro League side has registered concrete interest.
