City Sign Mokotjo In Swap Deal For Mokhuoane
Cape Town City have acquired midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo from Sekhukhune United in a swap deal with Relebogile Mokhuoane heading in the other direction.
Mokhuoane, who joined City in 2021, departs after three seasons with 57 appearances and one goal across all competitions.
Mokotjo, a former Bafana Bafana captain, joined Sekhukhune in 2022. The 33-year-old never scored in his two seasons with the club, making 52 appearances in all competitions, including 34 last term.
Mokotjo, a product of SuperSport United, spent most of his career in the Netherlands. He began with Excelsior in 2009 after winning the 2008/09 league title with SuperSport under Gavin Hunt.
Stints at Feyenoord (2010-2013), PEC Zwolle (2013-2015), FC Twente (2015-2017), and Brentford (2017-2020) followed. After leaving Brentford, he played two seasons for MLS side Cincinnati before returning to South Africa with Sekhukhune. He was part of Sekhukhune’s Nedbank Cup runner-up finish in the 2022/23 season.
Mokhuoane, on the other hand, joins Sekhukhune after five seasons with the now-defunct Free State Stars. He was a member of Ea Lla Koto’s 2017/18 Nedbank Cup-winning team under Luc Eymael.
