Davids Earns Coveted UEFA Pro Licence

Fadlu Davids, currently the assistant coach of Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, has achieved the pinnacle of coaching qualifications – the UEFA Pro Licence.

He obtained the certification through the Irish Football Association.

Davids’ journey began in 2015, when he was the assistant coach at Maritzburg United alongside his longtime friend Ernst Middendorp. Middendorp, who played a significant role in Davids’ coaching career, was present at the time.

Expressing immense pride, Davids stated, “I am incredibly humbled. Achieving my UEFA Pro Licence today is a dream come true for me. It’s been a life-changing journey that began in 2015 with my UEFA B Licence. Countless hours, extensive travel, and sleepless nights culminated in this graduation after nine years.”

He continued, “I take this responsibility with great honor and am committed to improving the world of football through hard work and dedication to this magnificent game. This is just the beginning; the real work starts now.”

Davids’ coaching experience includes a successful stint at Maritzburg, where they finished fourth in the 2017/18 season and reached the Nedbank Cup final (lost to Free State Stars). In January 2019, he joined Orlando Pirates as an assistant coach, holding the position until August 2021.

Following Pirates’ early exit from the MTN8, he was appointed co-coach alongside Mandla Ncikazi after the sacking of Josef Zinnbauer. Together, they led Pirates to the CAF Confederation Cup final, ultimately losing on penalties to Moroccan side RS Berkane.

Davids departed Pirates at the end of the season, but in November 2022, he returned to South Africa to assist Maritzburg, who were battling relegation. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, Maritzburg were relegated through the playoffs. He then reunited with Zinnbauer in July, joining him as the assistant coach of Raja Casablanca.
