Dikgacoi Joins Golden Arrows Coaching Staff
Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi is set to join Golden Arrows as part of their coaching staff.
Sportswire sources say Dikgacoi has already been involved in training with the club, and an official announcement is imminent.
This move comes after Dikgacoi was recently appointed as head coach of Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side Phezulu FC. However, he has left that position to join Arrows.
Dikgacoi will work alongside coach Mabhuti Khenyeza, who will once again lead Arrows this season following Steve Komphela’s departure.
The 39-year-old is returning to the club where he made his top-flight debut in 2005, having joined from Bloemfontein Young Tigers. He left Arrows in 2009 to pursue a career in England, playing for clubs such as Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Cardiff City.
A highlight of Dikgacoi’s career was reaching the Europa League final with Roy Hodgson’s Fulham side in 2010. He also played a crucial role in Bafana Bafana’s semi final success at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, held in South Africa.
Dikgacoi will forever be remembered for his assist to Siphiwe Tshabalala in the opening goal against Mexico during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Although South Africa ultimately failed to progress to the knockout stages, Dikgacoi’s contribution to that historic moment will not be forgotten.
