Dlamini Most Likely To Leave Pirates

Kabelo Dlamini’s future at Orlando Pirates is uncertain, with both the player and the club reportedly considering a possible separation at the end of the season, Sportswire has been informed.
This website has established that Dlamini came close to joining Sekhukhune United during the January transfer window, but the move ultimately did not materialise.
His role as the team’s traditional No.10 has been further diminished following the arrival of New Zealand international Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch FC in the same transfer window.
De Jong has already made an impact, opening his scoring account for Pirates with a penalty in their Nedbank Cup Round of 32 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in Durban this past weekend.
The midfielder’s movement between the lines — dropping deep to collect possession and drifting wide to create space for the frontline — was evident in that encounter, highlighting his tactical intelligence.
In addition to De Jong, Dlamini faces stiff competition in the attacking midfield role, with Relebohile Mofokeng currently occupying the advanced position. Coach Abdelsam Ouaddou can also call on Patrick Maswanganyi, Sipho Mbule, and, at times, Oswin Appollis in that area of the pitch.
Dlamini, who joined Pirates ahead of the 2019/20 season from Bloemfontein Celtic, has featured in just eight matches across all competitions this season, registering one assist.
The 29-year-old has not been included in the squad for the last four matches in all competitions, further complicating his chances of reclaiming a regular place in the team. His last appearance came against Durban City in early November last year, when he replaced Maswanganyi in the 79th minute of a 2-0 win at Moses Mabhida Stadium — a match that proved to be Gavin Hunt’s final game in charge of City before his dismissal.
Since arriving at Pirates, Dlamini has enjoyed considerable success, winning five MTN8 titles, two Nedbank Cups and the Carling Knockout trophy, the latter secured this season.
Overall, he has made 186 appearances for the Buccaneers, scoring 21 goals and providing 23 assists.
Should Dlamini depart at the end of the campaign, the technically gifted left-footer is unlikely to be short of options. Sekhukhune United could renew their interest — potentially securing his services on a free transfer if he becomes a free agent.
