Duba: I Told Nabi I Want To Play Striker Role

Kaizer Chiefs young forward Wandile Duba says he likes to play as a striker not as a winger and even told the club’s coach Nasreddine Nabi about it.
Duba, who was promoted to the first team during the 2022/23 season under Arthur Zwane, has been playing as a winger for the most part by coach Nabi this season but he doesn’t like that.
Despite playing out wide, the 20-year-old has managed to score four goals in the league this season, which is the same as Mdu Shabalala.
However, the Mpumalanga-born attacker says he likes to play as a striker not as a winger, but can’t have a say in the game plan of the coach even though he told Nabi he likes to play as a striker.
“I think all people know that from the DStv Diski Challenge, I was playing as a striker, and when I’m playing as a striker I give the team what needs,” Duba said on Thursday.
“I told the coach that I like to play as a striker, but I can’t have a say in his game planning. I need to do my job in the field even if I’m playing as a center-back.”
Amakhosi has 18 points after 13 this season and currently sitting in position number six. Duba added that Nabi came with a new mentality and that mentality still working, but it’s just that there are small mistakes that let them down.
“Yes, coach Nabi came with a new mentality and it’s still here and still working,” Duba added.
“But it’s just that there’s these small mistakes that let us down. As I said before, we just lose concentration throughout the whole 90 minutes.
“I think when I look at the stats I can see we have many shots, that means we are doing well. The only thing that we lack on the most is in the defense.”
