Ex-Chiefs Defender: Cross Is On The Right Path

The former Kaizer Chiefs left-back Sibusiso Khumalo says Bradley Cross is a good player, and he won’t struggle at the Soweto Giant since the fans will be behind him.
The 23-year-old talented left-back Cross joined Lamontville Golden Arrows FC at the beginning of last season. This was after he left Durban City FC [formerly known as Maritzburg United] on a free transfer.
Despite that Abafana Bes’Thende was struggling last season, but Cross was outstanding in his position. His outstanding performance with Arrows caught the eye of Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos.
Broos decided to call Cross into the Bafana Bafana squad when they were going to face Rwanda and Benin in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September. At the end of last season, Amakhosi decided to strengthen its squad with Cross.
In 2022, Cross attempted to join the Chiefs but coach Arthur Zwane was not impressed by him. Since Cross joined Chiefs, he has played all official games for Amakhosi. Khumalo believes Cross is something special and will be very important in Amakhosi this season.
“The good thing about playing for Kaizer Chiefs is that the fans can boost you if you are doing a great job for the club,” Khumalo told Sportswire.
“Cross is a good player and I don’t think he will struggle at Chiefs since fans will be behind him as he is doing a great job. Kaizer Chiefs fans can encourage you if you are doing well and I’m talking from experience since I played for Chiefs.
“This guy is something special and he has a positive impact both defensively and offensively at Chiefs. You will remember him even at Maritzburg and also at Arrows he was doing a great job,” he concluded.
Amakhosi can call upon Happy Mashiane and the former Orlando Pirates FC left-back Bongani Sam in Cross’ position.
Even though Cross is currently the first-choice player for Nabi, he has to be on top of his game because Sam and Mashiane are looking for those opportunities.
Cross and his team will visit SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday in the Betway Premiership match. They will meet each other for the second time this season as they were playing together on Saturday in the Carling Knockout where Chiefs won 4-0.
