Former Pirates Coach Suspended In the Motsepe Foundation Championship

Former Orlando Pirates youth coach Mandla Qhogi has been suspended with immediate effect by Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford FC.

This decision follows the club’s 5-1 defeat to Highbury at Gelvandale Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Friday.

Milford FC, who appointed Qhogi during the off-season, has announced that club owner Dr. Xuma Pupuma will take over coaching duties during his suspension.

This loss marks Milford’s second consecutive defeat, having previously lost 2-1 at home to Orbit College.

Milford, who had been aiming for promotion and avoiding relegation, currently sits fifth in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 29 points from 19 matches, level with fourth-placed Casric Stars.

They trail leaders Durban City by eight points and second-placed Orbit College by four.

Dr. Pupuma’s first match in charge is expected to be the Nedbank Cup round of 16 clash against Sekhukhune United this weekend.

Milford, who eliminated Kaizer Chiefs in the first round of last season’s competition, were scheduled to play Royal AM in the round of 32. However, they are expected to receive a walkover as Royal AM are unable to play due to the South African Revenue Service seizing the club’s assets.
