Gordinho Eyes Chiefs As Stepping Stone For City’s Success

Cape Town City defender Lorenzo Gordinho is counting on his teammates to take advantage of a struggling Kaizer Chiefs in efforts to find their feet after taking a knock in their last league game.
A new dawn for the Citizens as they look to start a new era under coach Muhsin Ertugral who was announced as the new City gaffer two days after the sacking of Eric Tinkler.
Tinkler’s departure came off the back of a home defeat to AmaZulu last Sunday with the Citizens having registered their fifth loss in the first 10 league games.
A 50% losing record in the league, including two domestic cup knockouts, was enough to see City bosses make the big decision having made heavy investments in transfers before the beginning of the season.
Amidst a hectic week for the club, Gordinho is convinced with his teammate’s attitude approaching their encounter with Chiefs at DHL Stadium on Sunday (17:45) and maintains that the team has been hard at work in preparation for this encounter.
“I feel like since the AmaZulu result, the guys have been really focused and looking to put their all in over this period and to try and give better performances and work hard as a team to try and get a positive result against Chiefs.”
In hopes of further suppressing his former club who are also not doing well in their liking, the former Chiefs defender further expressed.
“Everybody is looking forward to the game, It’s a big game, a good game and an exciting game. For us, you know is to try and get a win and bring some positive energy obviously because our last result against AmaZulu wasn’t one that we wanted.”
The former Bidvest Wits defender concluded by sending a special message to the City faithful, urging for their continued support as they look to battle the most followed club in South African football.
“I would just like to thank all the Citizen supporters that have been with us over this festive period, we appreciate your support, and we ask you to please join us again this Sunday as we take on Kaizer Chiefs. Your support is appreciated and needed, and we would like to give our all for you,” he said.
