Hunt: We Were Better Than Pirates Last Night
SuperSport United FC coach Gavin Hunt believes that his team played better than Orlando Pirates last night in the Betway Premiership at Orlando Stadium, and the scoreline wasn’t the true reflection of the game.
SuperSport has played five league games this season, winning just one game against TS Galaxy FC. They played a draw against Royal AM, and lost to Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City, and also against Pirates last on Tuesday.
The Tshwane-based side has been also knocked out in two Cup competitions this season. The Buccaneers defeated them in the quarterfinals of the MTN8 Cup, while Amakhosi beat them 4-0 last weekend in the last 16 of the Carling Knockout Cup.
Things are not going well with Hunt and his team this season. Despite that they lost against Pirates, Hunt believes that his team played very well and unfortunately the results were against them.
“I think it was more disappointing [for us to lose] but certain players played well,” Hunt said in a post-match press conference.
“I mean the scoreline wasn’t the true reflection of the game. We chased the game and we had some good chances.
“But we’ve got the quality, and we’ll take the true [2-0 loss], and give credit to Pirates. As I said, Pirates have talents like Patrick [Maswanganyi], and Patrick was in the street.”
SuperSport is currently in position number 13 with four points in the Betway Premiership after five games. This club will have another tough task this weekend in the Betway Premiership.
Amatsatsantsa a Pitori will be facing Kaizer Chiefs this Saturday in the Betway Premiership match at Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane. The last time SuperSport beat Amakhosi, it was last season in the first round of the league.
