Inside Castle Lager’s R1-Million World Cup Campaign: Leveraging Bafana’s Historic Knockout Run

As Bafana Bafana celebrate their historic qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Round of 32, Castle Lager is marking the occasion by buying the country a beer.

Bafana Bafana made history on Thursday morning by defeating South Korea 1-0 in Monterrey to reach the FIFA World Cup knockout stages for the first time.

They will now face co-hosts Canada in the Round of 32 at Los Angeles Stadium on Sunday.

To celebrate the milestone, Castle Lager is giving every South African of legal drinking age the opportunity to claim a free can of Castle Lager.

It is the brand’s way of thanking “the fans who stood the test of time” with the message: “This one’s for you.”

To claim a free can, South Africans simply need to visit Castlecans.com, register on the landing page and follow the redemption process.

Redemptions open at 16:00 on Friday, 26 June 2026, and close at 20:59 on Sunday, 28 June 2026, or while stocks last. Terms and conditions apply.

The offer is strictly for persons aged 18 years and older.

“As the brand that has stood behind Bafana Bafana for decades, we want to celebrate this moment with the people who made it possible,” said Vaughan Croeser, Marketing Vice President of The South African Breweries.

“Castle Lager believes in national unity and inclusion. No matter who you are or where you are from, this one is for every South African who stood behind Bafana Bafana and never sat back down.”

The campaign also gives fans the opportunity to hunt for the limited-edition FIFA World Cup 26™ Castle Lager cans, each featuring one of Bafana Bafana’s stars.

The first fan to scan and collect the full set of 26 commemorative cans will win R1 million in cash, turning the collection into a nationwide treasure hunt.

Each limited-edition can has been designed as a keepsake, giving supporters a lasting piece of memorabilia to commemorate one of the greatest moments in South African football history.
