Kanu Confirms Fasika Exit At Chippa

Chippa United coach Vusi Vilakazi has confirmed the departure of Nathan Fasika to Libyan side Al-Ahly Benghazi.
The 26-year-old has not featured since the Chilli Boys resumed their 2026 campaign following the Africa Cup of Nations.
Fasika made 13 appearances for Chippa after joining at the start of the season from Cape Town City, who were relegated at the end of the previous campaign.
However, he spent only a few months at the club before sealing his move abroad.
His exit prompted Chippa to bolster their defence with the signings of Katlego Mohamme on loan from Sekhukhune United and Abbubaker Mobara, who was released by AmaZulu before the end of last season.
“We needed to sign a defender after Fasika left the club,” said Vilakazi.
“We decided to get him [Mohamme] on loan. He was training with Sekhukhune; it’s not that he wasn’t training where he was coming from.”
Despite their Nedbank Cup round of 32 defeat to Durban City on Friday, Vilakazi expressed delight at securing the services of Mobara, describing him as a top-class player.
The 31-year-old, who previously turned out for Cape Town Spurs and Orlando Pirates, joined the Chilli Boys during the January transfer window on a free transfer after being without a club for seven months.
Vilakazi highlighted Mobara’s versatility as a major asset, noting that he can operate at centre-back, in midfield, or at right-back.
“Mobara is top class. He gives us defensive stability, and you can even play him in midfield or at right-back,” Vilakazi said.
“He didn’t have a job for seven months, but you can’t see that now because he’s been with us for three weeks. He’s doing a great job for us.”
