With Betway’s takeover as the PSL’s title sponsor now confirmed, there’s also clarity surrounding Marumo Gallants’ technical team.

Gallants, under new head coach Dylan Kerr, have retained Stan Nkoane as their first assistant coach, despite earlier speculation of his departure. Nkoane had been linked with moves to Baroka FC and Lerumo United FC respectively, the latter of which acquired Gallants’ Motsepe Foundation Championship status. However, the club has reversed this decision.

Instead, Mpho Maleka and Rodney Thobejane have joined Lerumo United as head coach and assistant coach, respectively, taking with them 15 players from Gallants.

Gallants will compete in the top flight after purchasing Moroka Swallows a few weeks ago. The club has undergone significant changes to prepare for the upcoming season. Nkoane was part of the Gallants coaching staff last term, taking over in April during their Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign.

Kerr’s technical team also includes second assistant coach Sundra Govenda and conditioning coach Dina Ndlovu. The club is expected to unveil new signings on Thursday or Friday. Players currently under assessment include Phathutshedzo Nange, Kamohelo Mahlatse, Mbulelo Wagaba, Edwin Gyimah, Derwin Famer, Mzwanele Mahashe, Thato Madigoe, Nhlanhla Mgaga, and Nickolas Lukhubeni.

Namibian winger Rewaldo Prins has already signed a two-year contract from Khomas Nampol FC.

Interestingly, most of these players previously worked with Kerr at Moroka Swallows.
