Nange, Farmer, Mahlatse Are Being Assessed By Gallants

Marumo Gallants are currently assessing several players, including Kamohelo Mahlatse, Mbulelo Wagaba, Phathutshedzo Nange, Edwin Gyimah, Derwin Famer, Mzwanele Mahashe, Thato Madigoe, Nhlanhla Mgaga, and Nickolas Lukhubeni.

Notably, Dylan Kerr, the new Gallants coach, previously coached some of these players at Moroka Swallows.

Nange is a free agent after leaving SuperSport United, while Mahlatse was released by Chippa United following a one-season stint last term.

Gymah’s contract with Sekhukhune United expired in June, and he left the club after a falling out with management that prevented him from playing in the second half of the season.

Mahashe has been without a club since leaving Sekhukhune at the end of the 2022/23 season, similar to Farmer, who departed Cape Town Spurs after their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the conclusion of last season.

Mgaga was released by Stellenbosch FC after two seasons under Steve Barker. Talks suggested a potential move to AmaZulu, but a reunion with his former coach at Baroka now seems more likely.

Madigoe spent five seasons at Baroka, who narrowly missed promotion to the DStv Premiership after finishing second in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. They were ultimately defeated by Richards Bay in the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs.

Lukhubeni, previously loaned out by Mamelodi Sundowns to Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows, and Sekhukhune United, is still owned by Sundowns. Like many others on this list, he previously played under coach Kerr.

Kerr’s appointment came after Gallants acquired the financially troubled Moroka Swallows. Ironically, Gallants were relegated from the Dstv Premiership at the end of the 2022/23 season after losing to the very same Swallows team.
