Khoza Explains Why The PSL Went For Betway

PSL chairman Irvin Khoza has revealed the reasons behind Betway securing the title sponsorship of the Premier Soccer League, which will now be known as the Betway Premiership.

The deal comes after DStv unexpectedly terminated its sponsorship a year early.

Betway has signed a three-year contract worth R900 million, amounting to R300 million per season. When asked about the decision-making process, Khoza explained, “It’s an executive decision. Betway demonstrated a strong understanding of creating conversation and engagement, which was a key selling point for us. We believe they can sustain this momentum.”

Khoza confirmed that DStv’s involvement with the DStv Diski Challenge remains unaffected by the Betway deal, stating, “We have a five-year contract with DStv for the Diski Challenge.”

Regarding the design of the new Betway Premiership trophy, Khoza intriguingly responded, “Watch this space.”
