Kolisi Leaves French Club As He Eyes Move Back To South Africa

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has amicably parted ways with Racing 92 in France, paving the way for a potential return to the Sharks.

Kolisi joined Racing 92 early last year from the Sharks but didn’t officially join the French club until after helping South Africa win the Rugby World Cup in France. However, he has struggled to settle in France and faced criticism from the club’s owner, Jacky Lorenzetti, following their defeat in the Top 14 playoffs.

“Siya Kolisi and Racing 92 have mutually agreed to terminate the contract binding the South African third row to the club until 2026. Both parties thank each other for the sporting moments spent together in the Ciel et blanc’ jersey, and wish each other every success in their future,” the club announced.

Meanwhile, Kolisi has been in South Africa, contributing to the Springboks’ recent victories over New Zealand in the Rugby Championship. He scored the first try in their 18-12 win at DHL Stadium on Saturday, marking their second win over the All Blacks in the tournament this year.

The flanker, who is set to miss the next two matches against Argentina due to a nose reset, is rumored to be returning to the Sharks. The Sharks, having won the Challenge Cup last season, have qualified for the Champions Cup next season. This means they will face some of Europe’s top teams at Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium in Durban.
