Lafitte Targets New Signings After Carling Cup Loss

Marumo Gallants coach Lafitte Alexandre has emphasised the importance of strengthening his squad after their 1-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Carling Cup final on Saturday.
The loss meant Gallants missed the chance to secure their first title of the 2025/26 season.
With the current group of players, Gallants have struggled in the Betway Premiership, suffering five defeats, drawing seven matches, and winning just three. They currently sit 12th on the log after 14 games.
Alexandre, 28, who was appointed during the off-season, admitted his team has a serious scoring problem. He said the club will hold discussions about bringing in new attacking players to bolster the squad.
“It’s a reality because if you watch our games, we have a problem scoring,” said Alexandre.
“In all our league matches, we’ve had the same situation. I believe in my team and my players, and we will continue to work. We are open to making additions, but we will discuss that with the chairman [Abram Sello] to improve the team step by step.
“I’m not sure about recruitment yet, but it’s possible. The most important thing is to keep working with the same team because we know these players. Step by step, we are building a good squad. The challenge is to improve, especially offensively, but it’s also important to have depth. If we have 22 players at the same level, we can push each other and have different solutions.”
