Masehe Reacts To Sekhukhune’s Shattered Top-Three Dreams

Sekhukhune United interim coach Paulus Masehe has opened up on the “bitter disappointment” felt in the dressing room after the club’s top-three ambitions were mathematically extinguished.
Ba Bina Noko no longer have a chance of qualifying for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup following their 2-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Despite missing out on a top-three finish, Sekhukhune still have an opportunity to end the season strongly by securing a place in the top four.
Sekhukhune are currently fifth on the table with 42 points from 28 matches, with only two games remaining in their campaign.
Masehe said it is disappointing for the players not to reach their target, especially after the hard work and effort they have put in throughout the season, adding that they deserved better.
“For the players, it is a little disappointing because they have remained among the top teams for most of the season,” said Masehe.
“They deserved to finish third or fourth, but we still have a chance to finish fourth. That would be fair for us and for them as well because they have worked extremely hard. They deserve something better this season.”
“They gave everything, even against Chiefs. I cannot fault anyone because the effort was there. The mistakes that happened are part of football — you can make errors at one end and get punished for them.”
“But for the boys, I hope we can win these last two games and finish fourth so that we can reward their good effort this season.”
Sekhukhune’s path to the finish line includes a trip to Richards Bay this Saturday, followed by a season finale against Siwelele on 23 May.
