Monyane Pens Emotional Farewell To Pirates Amidst Chiefs Transfer Buzz

Thabiso Monyane has sent a heartfelt message to Orlando Pirates, where he spent 13 years, adding that he is excited about the next chapter in his career.

Pirates parted ways with Monyane after his contract was not renewed by the Soweto Giants at the end of the past season. Monyane, who was released along with Paseko Mako, is now being linked with a move to Pirates’ rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, who are also reportedly monitoring Mako’s situation.

“As I close this chapter of my life, I’m filled with a mix of emotions – sadness to leave behind the only football home I’ve ever known, but also excitement for the new journey ahead,” said Monyane.

“Having joined the institution at age 12 and staying until 25, this club has been my everything. I’ve grown as a player, but more importantly, as a person. I’m grateful for the trophies we’ve won, the memories we’ve created, and the friendships that will last a lifetime.

“To the fans, thank you for your unwavering support. Your cheers, chants, constructive criticism, and passion fueled me every step of the way. I’ll never forget the electric atmosphere you created on match days.

“To the chairman, staff, technical team, and players, past and present, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and camaraderie. You’ve all played a role in shaping me into the player I am today.

“As I embark on my new journey, I’ll carry the lessons, values, and memories from this club with me always. I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity to represent this amazing club and be part of its history. Thank you, Orlando Pirates, for an unforgettable 13 years.”

During his tenure with Pirates, Monyane won the MTN8 four times and two Nedbank Cups. He played in 95 matches for the club, including 12 this past season, contributing four goals and three assists.
