Mosimane Awarded A Doctorate

One of South Africa’s greatest sporting icons, Pitso Mosimane, was conferred with an honorary doctorate by the University of Johannesburg on Wednesday.

This well-deserved recognition honors Mosimane’s exceptional career, marked by three CAF Champions League titles, five PSL championships, and numerous other domestic and continental trophies.

“Coach Pitso Mosimane was conferred with an honorary doctoral degree with immense pride and humility,” stated MT Sports Marketing and Management, Mosimane’s agency. “This prestigious award acknowledges his extraordinary contributions to sports, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to social upliftment.”

Mosimane expressed his gratitude: “I am deeply honored and grateful to the University of Johannesburg. Football is a powerful tool for change, a source of hope, and a platform to inspire. This achievement is not solely mine but a reflection of the hard work and dedication of countless individuals.”

With a career spanning over two decades, Mosimane has transformed teams and elevated South African football globally. Beyond his on-field triumphs, he is a passionate advocate for youth development through his soccer schools and foundation.

“Education and sports are fundamental to societal impact,” Mosimane emphasized. “I envision a school combining education and high-performance football development to inspire future generations.”

The conferment ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, PSL Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza, and renowned football figures like Aliou Cisse and Kalusha Bwalwa. This honorary doctorate solidifies Mosimane’s status as one of South Africa’s most influential sports personalities.

Mosimane is currently without a club after his departure from the relegated Saudi Arabian side, Abha.
