Msimango: Win Over SuperSport Reassured Us
Kaizer Chiefs’ stand-in captain Given Msimango believes their victory over SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership has revitalized the team’s confidence heading into the final matches of the season.
Msimango led the Amakhosi to victory at Peter Mokaba Stadium this past weekend, snapping a five-game winless streak. The win was even more crucial as Chiefs had also gone four matches without scoring a goal, leading to a drop in the league standings.
However, the win over SuperSport has propelled them back into the top eight with 33 points after 25 matches.
“It’s difficult to explain the team’s recent struggles,” admitted Msimango. “We weren’t winning games despite putting in decent performances. We were doing everything we could to win, but the results just weren’t going our way.”
“The victory against SuperSport United reassured us of our capabilities when we play to our potential. It was a massive confidence boost, a good win, and exactly what we and the supporters needed.”
Chiefs’ next challenge is against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Thursday. The match could see Sundowns potentially receive a guard of honor if Stellenbosch FC loses their match against Golden Arrows on Wednesday.
