Nabi: Chiefs Deserved Win Against AmaZulu

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi felt his team deserved to win after creating numerous chances in their 2-2 draw against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
The match saw Arthur Zwane, AmaZulu’s co-coach, face his former club for the first time.
Nabi lamented the missed opportunities, saying, “It’s a game that we deserved to win looking at all those opportunities that we got. Although the opponent had some opportunities, we had a lot of opportunities to win this game. We feel that we deserve to win it.”
Chiefs’ goals were largely the result of their errors, though their pressure contributed. Goalkeeper Richard Ofori had a shaky performance, particularly on Chiefs’ second goal, which he pushed into his own net.
Chiefs handed first starts to new signings Glody Lilepo, Tashreeq Morris, and Thabo Cele. Lilepo and Cele came off the bench in Chiefs’ previous match, the Soweto Derby loss to Orlando Pirates at the same venue.
At halftime, Nabi substituted Mduduzi Shabalala with Sibongiseni Mthethwa. He explained the tactical change, saying, “We felt we were a bit unbalanced, especially defensively. The front of our defense was not protected enough. We tried to correct that by bringing in Ox in the second half. We felt that we were in a better place in the second half. Even in the last five minutes, we missed like two opportunities. We had a lot of opportunities to kill the game, but this is football, and we need to accept that and continue to work.”
Chiefs, currently fifth in the Betway Premiership table with 22 points from 16 matches, will next travel to face Stellenbosch at Athlone Stadium on Friday night.
