AmaZulu Confirm Signing Of Former Pirates Winger

AmaZulu has completed the signing of 23-year-old winger Neo Mokoena from Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The Pretoria-born attacker—who developed in the Mamelodi Sundowns youth system before featuring in the DStv Diski Challenge and ABC Motsepe League—arrives in Durban to strengthen Head Coach Arthur “Phakimpi” Zwane’s frontline.
What Did Neo Mokoena Say About Joining Arthur Zwane at AmaZulu?
Speaking to the club’s official website following his arrival, Mokoena expressed his delight at stepping up to top-flight football under Zwane’s guidance:
“I’m grateful to join AmaZulu and thankful to the club for giving me this opportunity.
“The atmosphere at training has been amazing. The guys have welcomed me really well, and the intensity is on another level. It’s my first time competing at this level, so I’ll continue working hard and pushing myself every day.”
How Does Neo Mokoena Describe His Playing Style?
The versatile winger believes his technical ability and direct play will give Usuthu a distinct edge in attacking transitions:
“I’m finding my feet with my new teammates bit by bit. My goal is to help the team in every way I can. I’m a winger who enjoys taking on defenders.
“Dribbling is one of my biggest strengths, and I have good pace. I enjoy expressing myself on the ball, and that gives me confidence.”
Mokoena also reserved special praise for AmaZulu’s leadership and delivered a direct message to the club’s supporters ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Stellenbosch FC:
“I would like to thank our Chairman, Mr Sandile Zungu, the entire club, and everyone who made this move possible. I’m looking forward to working with Coach Arthur Zwane, my teammates, and the technical team.
“To the AmaZulu supporters, I promise to give my all every time I wear this badge. I can’t wait to get started and make you proud.”
